WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL TESTING?
Functional testing allows us to get to the root cause of your health concerns so we can create more targeted nutrition and lifestyle interventions. Test recommendations will be made by our nutritionist based on their analysis of your symptoms.
Upon receipt of your test results you will be booked for your lab interpretation with Katherine. At the end of your session you will be provided with a full written report, which includes a detailed explanation of the laboratory findings along with your personalised health strategy.
Lab interpretations are £65 for 20 minutes of consultation time & written report. This is addition to the price of the test.
Available Advanced Diagnostic Tests
Microbiome Testing
Determine the health of your microbiome by looking at the level of bacteria, parasites, fungi, inflammation and intestinal permeability. From here a nutritional plan will be created for you to help restore balance to the microbiome and relieve gastrointestinal symptoms. This is a stool test which can be completed at home.
This saliva test assesses the oral microbiome – a key ecosystem in the gut-brain connection, and for cardiovascular and female reproductive health. The microbiota of the oral cavity can be affected by injury, injection, dietary changes and smoking. The disruption of this ecosystem can result in chronic inflammation and ultimately, the development of local and systemic disease, such as gingivitis, periodontitis, oral cancer, cardiovascular disease and neurodegeneration.
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are extremely common in females, within 1 in 3 having a UTI by the age of 24. Research has linked a disruption in the microbiota composition to these infections.
Who is this test for?
Females suffering from acute UTIs, recurrent chronic urinary tract disorders, chronic UTIs and interstitial cystitis.
The results of this test can inform a more targeted nutrition and lifestyle plan.
This test is an at home urine sample.
This test analyses the bacteria and yeast present in the vaginal microbiome - a key ecosystem for female and reproductive health. Disruptions in this ecosystem has been linked to bacterial vaginosis (BV), premature delivery, infertility, miscarriages and increased risk of STIs.
Who is this test for?
Females struggling with recurrent BV infections and fertility.
Analysing the vaginal microbiome can therefore allow your nutrition and lifestyle plan to be more targeted.
This test is an at home vaginal swab.
The gold standard test for SIBO. Determine the levels of bacteria in your small intestine by measuring the presence of hydrogen and methane gases which are produced by these bacteria. A nutritional intervention will be created for you based on your results. This is a breath test which can be completed at home.
Toxic Exposure
A comprehensive assessment of your heavy metals and essential elements. Toxic elements have been found to significantly increase your risk of a number of conditions including dementia and diabetes and affect a number of your internal systems and organs. Essential elements are only healthy when they are within the optimum ranges and play a critical role in synthesising neurotransmitters and activating hormones.
This test screens for eleven mycotoxins and forty species of mould from a single urine sample. Mycotoxins are some of the most prevalent toxins we are exposed to. They are metabolites produced by fungi like mould, which can infest buildings, vehicles, and food.
Diseases and symptoms linked to mycotoxin exposure - fever, pneumonia-like symptoms, heart disease, rheumatic disease, asthma, sinusitis, cancer, memory loss, vision loss, chronic fatigue, skin rashes, depression, ADHD, anxiety, and liver damage.
If you suffer from any of these symptoms and have been exposed to mould at home or elsewhere this test could give a clearer picture of what’s going on. This test involves a urine sample collected at home.
Food Allergy and Intolerance
Discover which foods you are triggering an unwanted immune response. Learn how to successfully complete an elimination diet and reintroduce the foods back into your diet so you no longer react to them. This is a finger prick test completed at home.
Cyrex laboratories perform advanced immunology testing. The arrays range from immune responses to multiple foods, autoimmune neurological reactivity, autoimmune joint reactivity, diabetes autoimmune reactivity, blood brain barrier health, irritable bowel and Alzhiemer’s associated reactivity. Please enquire below if you are interested.
Hormones
This test can help identify the root cause of hormone imbalances in both men and women. It looks at 35 different hormones from your sex hormones to your stress hormones and helps to draw conclusions on a number of symptoms you may be experiencing.
Determine the levels of cortisol in your body and if it is being released at right times for optimum health. Learn how to rebalance it through nutrition and lifestyle interventions.
Get a complete overview of your thyroid hormone function to determine if you have any imbalances. This test is unique in that it also looks at the essential elements which affect thyroid function. This is a finger prick test completed at home.
Advanced Nutrition
This test provides an accurate evaluation of intestinal yeast and bacteria. Abnormally high levels of these microorganisms can cause or worsen behaviour disorders, hyperactivity, movement disorders, fatigue and immune function. Many people with chronic illnesses and neurological disorders excrete abnormal organic acids in their urine. The test also includes markers for vitamin and mineral levels, oxidative stress, neurotransmitter levels, and oxalates. This is a urine sample, taken at home.
This is an advanced nutritional test that helps identify where you might be going wrong with your diet. This test is ideal for identifying the root cause of the following aliments:
Depression; Heart disease; Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes; Fatigue; Weight issues; General dietary guidance; Malnutrition (often observed in the elderly); Maldigestion/Malabsorption related to the gut; Athletic performance; Physical trauma/healing
This test will give an insight into your nutrients needs including antioxidants, B vitamins, omegas, minerals, amino acids. It will also flag toxic exposure, fatty acids imbalances, oxidative stress, energy & methylation imbalances.
This test can be completed at home requiring only a urine sample. Your Nutritionist may add on additional markers which would require a blood spot or salvia sample.
Biological Age
GlycanAge testing is a novel method for measuring biological age however the science behind it holds up. Glycans are sugar molecules that respond to lifestyle choices and the inflammatory state of your immune system. GlycanAge determines biological age by testing the type of glycans (pro- or anti-inflammatory) attached to immune molecules. Nutrition and lifestyle habits play a significant role in determining the balance in your glycan molecules and ultimately your biological age.
