Why I Am Offering Mentoring

Throughout my career, especially when starting out, I often wished there was more support for Nutritional Therapists. I would come across complex client cases and feel like there was no one to reach out to to discuss the case. It felt too daunting to post questions in the facebook communities and other NTs I knew had also just graduated. There was a lot of figuring things out by yourself through research, but this doesn’t always give you the answers. Having a more experienced practitioner to reach out to felt like something that should be offered in the community, at least for your first year in Practice.

Not many jobs exist for Nutritional Therapists and most people will set up their own practice. This can be a daunting experience and loneliness is a real part of being a sole practitioner. I was lucky in the fact that I lived in London and was able to get clinical roles in other practices, but this doesn’t apply to the majority practitioners living outside of larger cities. Working in other established clinics taught me how much I didn’t know and without these opportunities I feel my practitioner and business knowledge would not be where it is at today. This profession requires a model for practitioner support but unfortunately it doesn’t exist. Therefore, I want to offer mentoring as a way of supporting new practitioners in a safe, caring and non-judgemental environment.

I am also a qualified Health Coach and have completed an Msc in Nutrition for Global Health.

The area I am most specialised in is gut health however I also work with hormone cases, skin conditions and complex autoimmune cases.

As a practitioner I aim to take a food first approach and also utilise available testing to the best of a clients budget. I find supplements very helpful however I try not to over supplement as this is expensive and challenging for clients.
